Businesses are being urged to have more open conversations with employees about pay and benefits as hiring challenges continue to hinder the UK economy.
The call comes after a huge response to a national TV campaign for a new Salary Health Checker online tool.
The checker allows people to see if they are being paid fairly, helping them when talking about pay and benefits with current and prospective employers.
The Pertemps campaign was seen by more than 13 million people on Sky and ITV, as well as engaging with over nine million people on social media checking if their pay was in line with regional averages – with 70% then going on to search for jobs.
Nearly half of UK companies have struggled to meet output demands in the last year because of labour shortages, according to a recent report from the CBI and Pertemps.
Tim Watts, Lifetime President of Pertemps, said: “Salaries have fluctuated significantly in the past few months, meaning it’s essential more than ever for our candidates and clients to know the value of every job, whether they are actively looking for a new role or not.
“We’ve had a huge response since the launch of online tool, which clearly demonstrates how pay and benefits are at the forefront of everyone’s minds as we go through the cost-of-living crisis.
“It is clear that many people are not happy with what they are being paid. Employers need to be having more open conversations with their colleagues and looking at their pay and benefits packages to attract and retain the best people in the current climate.”
Along with the Salary Health Checker, Pertemps has produced salary guides across a variety of sectors including administrators, customer service, forklift drivers, machine operators and more, covering national and regional salary trends.
Tim Jones, Head of Marketing and Sponsorship, added: “In the first three days, we saw a 145% increase in traffic to our website and people looking for jobs.
“We want to give our candidates the confidence when they are looking for a new job or those seeking a pay rise to help them know their worth and develop their understanding of what typical salaries are.”
